The Sindh government has declared Friday, August 14, 2026, a public holiday across the province to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
According to a notification issued Monday by the Services, General Administration and Coordination Department, the holiday will apply to all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government.
The notification stated that essential services will be exempt from the holiday.
Moreover, Services and General Administration Department of Punjab government has also announced public holiday on August 14 across the province to mark Independence Day.
Government offices and most institutions will remain closed.
The announcement said emergency services will remain operational to ensure the continued provision of essential services to the public during the holiday.
