ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ministry of Religious Affairs has finalised the application and payment process for Hajj 2027, allowing new pilgrims to apply through a digital system starting in the third week of August, as the government prepares for thousands of Pakistanis planning to perform the pilgrimage.

The ministry said applicants under the government Hajj scheme will be able to submit payments through online methods, including OneLink, PSID, credit cards and digital challans. The new system has also been introduced for overseas Pakistanis, who will be able to complete their applications and pay their dues online.

According to the ministry, all applications and payments under the government scheme will be processed through one selected private bank. Registered pilgrims will be eligible to apply and submit their payments, while the Hajj expenses will be collected in two instalments.

The first instalment will include half of the total amount, while the remaining payment will be collected in the second instalment. Pilgrims applying through private Hajj operators will also have access to digital payment options.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs said the digital payment system aims to make the process easier, quicker and safer for pilgrims by reducing paperwork and improving payment facilities.

For Hajj 2027, Pakistan has received a total quota of 179,210 pilgrims. Under the government scheme, 107,526 seats, or 60% of the total quota, have been allocated. The remaining 71,684 seats, representing 40% of the quota, have been reserved for the private Hajj scheme.

The ministry has also announced a passport renewal facility for people planning to perform Hajj 2027. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has instructed passport offices to accept early renewal requests from intending pilgrims.

A ministry spokesperson said Pakistani passports submitted for Hajj 2027 must remain valid until Nov. 16, 2027. Passport offices across Pakistan and overseas missions have been directed to speed up the renewal process to prevent delays in applications.

Officials advised all applicants to ensure their passports meet the required validity period because applications without valid passports will not be accepted.

The ministry has already received a strong response for Hajj 2027 registration, with more than 300,000 people completing the online registration process so far.
