Masters Hockey World Cup 2026 has officially begun in Antwerp, Belgium.
Pakistan Veterans suffered a heavy defeat in their opening match of the Masters Hockey World Cup. In the over-60 category, the Netherlands defeated Pakistan 10-0, while the Pakistani team failed to score. The Pakistan squad includes several former hockey Olympians, including Shahbaz Senior, Tariq Sheikh, Khalid Hameed and other former players.
Pakistan is in Group D alongside the Netherlands, Wales and Ireland. The team will play its second match against Ireland on Aug. 9, followed by a match against Wales on August 11.
The Masters Hockey World Cup 2026 has officially begun in Antwerp, Belgium, with a colorful and lively opening ceremony. More than 130 teams from different countries are participating in the event, making it one of the biggest international tournaments for veteran hockey players.
The championship has brought together former hockey stars and experienced players from around the world. Teams are competing in different age categories, including 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+. The tournament gives veteran players an opportunity to compete internationally while celebrating their passion for hockey.
The Masters Hockey World Cup is held every four years in different countries and features competitions for players aged 55+, 60+, 65+ and 70+.
Pakistan’s masters team in the 60-65 age category is also participating in the international tournament. The squad includes former national players such as Shahbaz Senior, Olympian Khalid Hameed and Irfan Senior.
Players of Pakistani origin from the UK and Australia are also part of the team. Pakistan’s Masters team was scheduled to begin its World Cup campaign with a match against the Netherlands at 6 p.m. Pakistan time. The national team also appealed to the Pakistani community to attend the match and support the players.
