BAGH: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Friday said the country’s political system had not failed on its own but had been “made to fail,” urging political forces to address the root causes of the country’s challenges through dialogue.
Addressing a public gathering in Bagah, Bilawal said the Constitution is the backbone of any country and argued that repeated constitutional disruptions had weakened Pakistan’s democratic system. He said political leaders should focus on resolving the underlying issues rather than avoiding them.
The PPP chairman also criticized the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), saying the party was mistaken if it believed it would form the next government in Muzaffarabad. He claimed the federal government in Islamabad was also facing increasing political pressure.
Bilawal said he did not question Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s intentions but alleged that a faction within the PML-N was attempting to create divisions between the prime minister and his coalition partners.
On administrative reforms, Bilawal said the PPP would support the creation of new provinces only if such a move reflected the will of the people.
Referring to the situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, he described the current period as one of the most difficult in the region’s history, citing prolonged internet shutdowns and road closures that have disrupted businesses and daily life.

He called for all disputes to be resolved through dialogue and welcomed the passage of a resolution in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly seeking the establishment of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Bilawal urged both protesters and authorities to suspend demonstrations and enforcement actions until the commission is formed.
