Pakistan forces kill 13 militants in Balochistan ‘Operation Al-Azm’

ISPR said security forces killed 10 militants described as belonging to India backed groups Fitna-al-Khwarij.

Pakistani security forces have killed at least 13 militants so far in the ongoing Operation Al-Azm in Balochistan, security reports anounced on Saturday, as authorities continue targeted operations against armed groups active in the province.

Militants from a group Pakistani officials refer to as “Fitna al-Hindustan” suffered additional losses following a security operation in the Khad Kocha area of Mastung. During the operation, forces destroyed several militant hideouts and recovered weapons, ammunition, and materials used to build improvised explosive devices, officials also confirmed that several militants were injured during the raid.

The update follows a Wednesday statement from the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), which said security forces killed 10 militants described as belonging to India backed groups “Fitna al-Khwarij” and “Fitna al-Hindustan”, while also arresting two female suicide bombers during separate operations in Mastung and Surab districts.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said India’s alleged involvement in terrorist activity within Pakistan was clear, calling on the nation to unite against the threat. He said roughly 90,000 people have died in Pakistan’s broader fight against terrorism.

Sharif also criticized the Afghan Taliban government, saying it had failed to prevent militants from using Afghan territory to launch attacks against Pakistani civilians and security personnel. He said terrorism had largely been eliminated by 2018 but has since returned amid what he described as a coordinated effort against the country.

Pakistan has seen a significant increase in terrorist activity in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan since the Taliban returned to power in Afghanistan in 2021. In response, Pakistan launched “Operation Ghazab lil-Haq”, targeting alleged militant hideouts across the border, which Pakistani authorities say killed numerous fighters.
