    83rd Golden Globe Awards: A star-studded night

    The 83rd Golden Globe Awards took place on Sunday, January 11 (US time), officially opening the race to the 2026 Academy Awards. The event honoured the best work in films, television, and entertainment from the past year.

    The biggest success of the night was Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, which won four major awards, including Best Director. The animated film KPop Demon Hunters won Best Animated Feature, while Sinners earned the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award for its strong theatrical run.

    Film Awards: Big Wins for Hamnet and One Battle After Another

    The night’s most coveted prize, Best Film – Drama, went to Hamnet, which triumphed over heavyweights including Frankenstein, The Secret Agent, and Sinners. Jessie Buckley’s acclaimed performance earned her Best Actress  Drama, further cementing the film’s success.

    In the comedy categories, Best Film – Musical or Comedy was claimed by One Battle After Another. Director Paul Thomas Anderson emerged as one of the evening’s biggest winners, taking home Best Director and Best Screenplay for the film. Supporting awards also favored the project, with Teyana Taylor winning Best Supporting Actress (Film).

    Acting honors were spread across a diverse slate of films. Wagner Moura won Best Actor – Drama for The Secret Agent, while Timothée Chalamet took Best Actor – Musical or Comedy for Marty Supreme. Rose Byrne claimed Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, and Stellan Skarsgård earned Best Supporting Actor (Film) for Sentimental Value.

    International, Animated, and Music Categories

    The Secret Agent added to its accolades with Best Non-English Language Film, while Best Animated Film went to KPop Demon Hunters, beating out high-profile contenders such as Elio and Zootopia 2. The animated hit also won Best Original Song for “Golden.”

    In music, Ludwig Göransson received Best Original Score for Sinners, which later capped the night by winning Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, recognizing its commercial impact.

    Television: Drama and Comedy Shine

    Television awards reflected a strong year across genres. Best TV Series –Drama went to The Pitt, with Noah Wyle winning *Best Actor in a Drama Series. Rhea Seehorn earned Best Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus.

    On the comedy side, The Studio won Best TV Series Musical or Comedy, while Seth Rogen took Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Jean Smart continued her awards run with Best Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks.

    Limited Series and Specialty Awards

    Adolescence was a standout in limited series categories, winning Best Limited Series or TV Film, along with acting honors for Stephen Graham (Best Actor), Erin Doherty (Best Supporting Actress), and Owen Cooper (Best Supporting Actor). Michelle Williams won Best Actress for Dying for Sex.

    Special awards rounded out the night, with Ricky Gervais  Mortality winning Best Stand-Up Comedy on Television, and Good Hang with Amy Poehler taking Best Podcast.

    Oscars Race Heats Up

    With One Battle After Another dominating creative categories, Hamnet securing top drama honors, and Sinners proving its box-office power, the Golden Globes 2026 firmly shaped the early Oscars conversation—marking one of the most dynamic and influential award nights in recent years.
