Photo: ExpressThe National Logistics Corporation (NLC) and the Railways Division on Wednesday signed a Strategic Framework of Cooperation (SFC) to strengthen Pakistan’s multimodal transportation and logistics network.The signing ceremony was witnessed by Railways Minister Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and attended by senior officials from the NLC and Pakistan Railways.The framework provides a platform for collaboration between the two organisations to explore new business opportunities, enhance freight connectivity, and develop integrated logistics….
It also envisages collaboration in logistics infrastructure, freight transportation, and the development of integrated supply chain solutions.Speaking on the occasion, Abbasi highlighted the longstanding cooperation between the two organisations and expressed confidence that the framework would further facilitate and enhance freight transportation across Pakistan.He also appreciated the NLC’s contributions to national development.The NLC and Pakistan Railways are already working on the development of the Multimodal Logistics Park and Dedicated Freight….
Furthermore, the NLC is one of the largest customers of Pakistan Railways’ freight trains.Earlier in January, the two organisations joined hands to upgrade Main Line-2 as a dedicated freight corridor, enabling the transportation of goods to several cities across the country within a shorter period.The corridor, which will run from Kotri to Attock, is estimated to cost around $2 billion.
The NLC will arrange the financing on its own through banks or funding agencies.
