Bella Hadid has offered a profoundly candid insight into her ongoing battle with chronic Lyme disease, detailing the persistent physical and emotional toll the condition continues to exert on her daily existence.
On Thursday, June 25, the 29-year-old supermodel took to Instagram Stories to describe a recent severe flare-up, reflecting on a cycle of debilitating symptoms including chronic pain, extreme fatigue, anxiety, cognitive fog, recurrent infections, and psychological distress.
Hadid described the experience as deeply disorienting and emotionally exhausting, particularly during prolonged periods of relapse. She noted that despite extensive research, treatment attempts, and relentless pursuit of answers, the condition remains unpredictable and often unyielding.
“You demand answers that no one can find. You fight. You finally have a few good days… and then a flare-up comes back and everything feels uncertain again,” she wrote.
The model further revealed that the illness renders her day-to-day life highly unpredictable, stating that she is often unable to anticipate how her body will respond from one morning to the next.
She also disclosed waking with immediate anxiety and enduring significant physical discomfort even before beginning daily routines.

Hadid admitted that she frequently conceals the severity of her condition, adding that its full impact is difficult to comprehend unless personally experienced.
Despite the gravity of her condition, she extended a message of solidarity and hope to others facing similar struggles, writing, “There is light, even if you can’t see it today… There is hope.”
She also acknowledged the emotional burden of chronic illness, expressing that sustaining a sense of purpose or joy becomes profoundly challenging during intense flare-ups, when both physical and mental reserves are depleted.
In a further revelation, Hadid shared that even routine activities, such as bathing, can at times become physically overwhelming due to the severity of her symptoms.
Hadid was diagnosed with chronic Lyme disease in 2012 at the age of 16, alongside her mother Yolanda Hadid and brother Anwar Hadid.
According to the Mayo Clinic, Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by Borrelia species, transmitted through the bite of infected blacklegged ticks.
