The Danish royal couple shared heartfelt congratulations, highlighting unity, tradition, and cultural pride.

Denmark’s King Frederik X and Queen Mary have conveyed their warm and heartfelt congratulations to the people of Greenland as the nation marked its National Day on Sunday, June 21, in a celebration steeped in culture, identity, and tradition.

In a gracious message shared through the Danish Royal Family’s official Instagram account, the royal couple extended their sincere greetings, describing the occasion as a moment of joy and unity.

They noted that Greenland’s National Day traditionally coincides with the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, adding a symbolic sense of light and festivity to the celebrations.

The royals expressed their hope that the extended daylight hours would provide a beautiful and festive backdrop for celebrations across Greenland and among Greenlandic communities abroad, emphasizing the spirit of togetherness that defines the occasion.

Alongside the message, the Royal Family shared a warm photograph featuring the monarch and queen with their two youngest children, reflecting a rare and intimate family moment that resonated with the public.

Greenland’s National Day has been observed since 1985, following the establishment of home rule, and is widely regarded as a celebration of the island’s rich cultural heritage, national pride, and enduring identity.

As an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark, Greenland maintains a close constitutional and historical bond with the Danish Crown.

Over the years, both King Frederik and Queen Mary have actively participated in Greenlandic events, reinforcing diplomatic goodwill and strengthening the long-standing relationship between the two nations.
