Trump said vessels are once again moving through the strategic waterway.

US President Donald Trump has said that an agreement with Iran has been finalized and that commercial shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has resumed.

According to international media reports, Trump said vessels are once again moving through the strategic waterway, with several oil-laden ships reportedly in transit.

He described a “Southern Highway” route as safe, calm and fully operational, adding that maritime traffic has restarted through the area.

Trump also claimed that other alternative shipping routes exist, though he did not provide further details.

In a previous interview with The New York Times, he said the agreement would allow Iran to maintain a civilian nuclear program while imposing strict and lasting restrictions on any military use.

He added that discussions included options to limit or suspend uranium enrichment for periods ranging from 15 to 20 years, with a possible 15-year arrangement under consideration.

Trump further said a key goal of the deal is to ensure full freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, without any fees, tolls or restrictions on international shipping.

In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, he congratulated all parties on a ceasefire deal and announced that the US agreement with Iran had been completed.

The developments suggest progress toward a new diplomatic framework between Washington and Tehran after decades of tensions, although key issues such as enrichment limits, frozen assets, war damages and the future status of the Strait of Hormuz are expected to require further negotiations.

Earlier,  Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei has said that a proposed agreement with the United States will include the return of frozen Iranian assets as well as compensation for damages from military actions involving the United States and Israel.
