GILGIT: The political picture in Gilgit-Baltistan is taking shape as vote counting continues for all 24 constituencies, with early unofficial results showing the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) in a strong leading position.
So far, results from 18 seats have been announced, placing PPP ahead with 9 wins, followed by independent candidates securing 6 seats, while PML-N has taken 2 and Majlis Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) 1 seat.
According to initial trends, PPP candidates have emerged victorious in constituencies 1, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 19.

Key Constituency Results
GBA-1 Gilgit-I:
With results from 80 polling stations, PPP’s Amjad Hussain secured 10,594 votes, defeating PML-N’s Muhammad Shafiq-ud-Din, who received 6,312 votes.
GBA-2 Gilgit-II:
Partial counting shows PML-N’s Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman in the lead, followed by PPP’s Jameel Ahmed and IPP’s Fattahullah Khan.
GBA-3 Gilgit-III:
Complete results indicate PTI-backed independent candidate Syed Sohail Abbas winning with 7,877 votes, while PPP’s Aftab Haider Advocate finished second with 7,361 votes.
GBA-4 Nagar-I:
PPP’s Muhammad Ali Akhtar secured victory with 7,654 votes, while ITP’s Muhammad Ayub Wazir came second with 6,597 votes.
GBA-5 Nagar-II:
PPP’s Zulfiqar Ali Murad narrowly won with 2,705 votes, beating MWM’s Riaz Akbar, who polled 2,584 votes.
GBA-6 Hunza:
Independent candidate Nek Nam Karim claimed victory with 6,360 votes, while PPP’s Imtiaz-ul-Haq stood second.
GBA-7 Skardu-I:
PPP’s Syed Taqeer Mehdi won with 4,295 votes, followed by IPP’s Raja Jalal and PML-N’s Haji Akbar Taban.
Close contests continue across several constituencies, particularly in Skardu, where PPP and MWM candidates are locked in tight competition.
Officials say final results will become clearer once counting is completed in all remaining constituencies.
