Sindh government on its successful operations against dacoits and criminal groups in the riverine katcha areas
KARACHI: Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon have agreed that close cooperation between the federal and provincial governments is important for solving national issues and serving the public better.
At a meeting in Islamabad, both sides reviewed ongoing efforts to control drug trafficking and maintain peace in Karachi and other major cities of Sindh. They stressed the need for stronger coordination to tackle these challenges.
Speaking at the meeting, Memon said that cooperation between the federation and provinces is the best way to address national problems. He added that all governments and institutions should work together for the country’s benefit.
The senior minister said the Sindh government would continue its efforts against crime. He said authorities are committed to maintaining law and order and protecting citizens across the province.

The interior minister assured Sindh of the federal government’s full support in maintaining peace and fighting narcotics. He also praised Sindh Police for their professionalism, courage, and commitment to restoring law and order.
The meeting came weeks after Karachi police arrested a woman known as Pinky. Authorities accused her of running a large narcotics network in the city. She was arrested during a joint operation in Karachi’s Garden area.
This network supplied drugs to several cities, including Lahore and Islamabad. Police said the operation also targeted wealthy areas of Karachi such as DHA and Clifton.
The arrest exposed the scale of the drug trade in Sindh, following the operation, authorities made several more arrests and promised stronger action against drug networks.
The meeting also reviewed security conditions in Sindh’s katcha areas. These riverine regions have long been used by armed criminal groups involved in kidnappings, extortion, and other crimes.
In recent months, Sindh Police have increased operations against these gangs. The government has also improved cooperation with Punjab Police and other security agencies to strengthen law enforcement efforts.
These measures have helped improve security and support ongoing efforts to restore peace in affected areas.
