ISLAMABAD: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has departed for an official visit to the Iran, security sources said on Friday.
According to security officials, during the visit Field Marshal Asim Munir will discuss key regional and security issues, including Iran–United States dialogue, and broader efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
Sources said the army chief is also expected to meet senior Iranian leadership during the visit and hold detailed consultations on matters of mutual interest.
Security sources added that the discussions will focus on regional security dynamics and ongoing diplomatic developments involving Iran and the United States.

Earlier, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran for high-level discussions with Iranian officials focused on ongoing efforts to revive indirect talks between the United States and Iran.
According to Iranian media, Naqvi held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni and also met Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Commander-in-Chief General Ahmad Vahidi.
The meetings were held at Iran’s Interior Ministry headquarters, where officials discussed bilateral cooperation and the evolving security situation in the region.
The visit comes as Islamabad continues its diplomatic push to help reduce tensions and support stalled negotiations aimed at de-escalating conflicts in the Middle East.
