Pakistan’s leading left-arm fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi achieved a major milestone in Test cricket by becoming the first Pakistani bowler to take 100 wickets in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC).

He reached this achievement during the first Test match against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. Afridi made an early impact on the opening day by dismissing Bangladesh opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy.

With this wicket, Afridi also became part of a special group of bowlers in WTC history, as he is now the 19th player overall to reach 100 wickets in the tournament since it began.

Among Pakistani bowlers in the WTC, Afridi is now at the top with 100 wickets. He is followed by Noman Ali with 89 wickets, Sajid Khan with 63, Naseem Shah with 60, Abrar Ahmed with 46, Yasir Shah with 41, Hasan Ali with 35, and Mohammad Abbas with 34 wickets.

At the time of writing, Bangladesh had reached 244 for 3 in 63 overs after making a strong comeback from an early collapse. The team was earlier struggling at 31 for 2 but recovered well through an important partnership.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto played an impressive innings of 101 runs off 130 balls, while Mominul Haque stayed not out on 80, helping to steady the innings after the early setbacks.
