YouTube expands community tab access to more creators
In an effort to enhance creator-audience interaction, YouTube is expanding access to its Communities feature, reducing the need for external platforms like Discord.
Initially introduced during last year’s Made for YouTube event, Communities remains a mobile-exclusive feature. It allows creators to share text-based posts with images, similar to X, while fostering discussions within the platform. This move aims to create a more integrated and engaging experience for both creators and their followers.
YouTube Enhances Community Features
YouTube has been testing the Communities feature with a select group of creators and has received positive feedback. As a result, the platform is expanding access, though the rollout remains invitation-based. Eligible creators will receive notifications via email or a banner on their YouTube app, guiding them through the activation process.
Additionally, YouTube has rebranded its existing Community tab as Posts to provide a clearer distinction between engagement tools.
To further support content creators, YouTube has introduced a moderation system within the YouTube Studio app’s Community Hub. This system includes AI-powered suggestions to help creators manage interactions more effectively.
While there is no official timeline for a broader rollout, YouTube is expected to make the feature widely available once testing is complete.
