On our part, we are ready to do everything we can to help you resolve this situation," Putin told Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in the Caspian Sea resort of Avaza, Russian news agencies reported.Putin said Iran was making "real efforts to end the conflict", which he said had broken out "through no fault" of Tehran.
"We are ready to do everything that is in our power to contribute to the settlement of this situation," he said, according to Russian state media.The Iran conflict began after US and Israeli attacks on Iran on February 28.
The meeting came as talks between Tehran and Washington appeared to have reached an impasse.
Pezeshkian said earlier this week that negotiations with Washington were "meaningless".Putin also pointed to what he called a "positive evolution" in relations between Russia and Iran.
The two countries have strengthened diplomatic and military ties since Russia launched its offensive in Ukraine in February 2022.Ukraine and Western countries have accused Iran of supplying Russia with Shahed drones and short-range missiles for use in the war.
Russia, meanwhile, has been accused of providing targeting data to Iran for strikes on US interests in the Middle East.Putin and Pezeshkian arrived in Turkmenistan on Thursday for the CIS summit.
The two presidents last met on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit in Kyrgyzstan in September.
