Trump hails Iran’s move to open Strait of Hormuz, says “Thank You”

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that Iran has announced the Strait of Hormuz is completely open.

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has welcomed Iran’s announcement to fully reopen the Strait of Hormuz for all commercial maritime traffic, calling the development a positive step and expressing his gratitude.

In a post on Truth Social, President Trump said that Iran has announced the Strait of Hormuz is completely open and ready for all forms of shipping, adding, “Thank you Iran.”

The statement came shortly after Iranian authorities declared that all commercial vessels would be allowed to pass through the strategic waterway under the ongoing ceasefire conditions between Lebanon and Israel.

According to Iranian officials, during the remaining period of the ceasefire, all commercial vessels will be permitted to transit the Strait under pre-arranged and coordinated routes, supervised by Iran’s Ports and Maritime Organization.

The announcement follows a period of heightened tensions that had disrupted shipping activity in one of the world’s most critical maritime chokepoints, impacting global trade and oil transportation.

Experts say the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz is significant for global markets, as a large share of the world’s oil and gas passes through the route. The move is expected to bring temporary stability to energy supplies.

However, analysts caution that the arrangement is temporary and depends on strict adherence to the ceasefire and the evolving security situation in the region.
