WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump expressed confidence that Chinese President Xi Jinping will receive him warmly when he travels to China.

Speaking in Washington, Trump stated that efforts are underway to permanently reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a move he said would benefit not only China but the entire world by improving global trade and energy supply chains.

He described the decision to keep the Strait open as crucial for international commerce and energy transportation, adding that it serves the interests of all countries, including China.

Trump also claimed that relations with China are improving under President Xi Jinping’s leadership, noting that Beijing has agreed not to supply weapons to Iran, which he said is an important step toward reducing regional tensions.

He further said he will soon travel to China, where he expects a warm reception from Xi Jinping, describing it as a symbol of strengthening ties between the two major powers.

The President added that the current situation will not be repeated and that the United States and China are moving forward “wisely” together. However, he warned that the US would demonstrate its military superiority if necessary.

Trump questioned whether improved relations with China should be seen as a loss, calling it a diplomatic success that promotes global stability.
