Leaders reaffirm commitment to continuous communication to support regional peace initiatives.

Islamabad: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a substantive and cordial telephone discussion today with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close and continuous diplomatic contact.

The conversation, which lasted over forty-five minutes, was described as constructive and friendly. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the Iranian leadership for its wisdom and foresight in expressing readiness for a ceasefire.

He also welcomed Iran’s agreement to Pakistan’s proposal to host negotiations between Iran and the United States in Islamabad later this week.

During the discussion, the Prime Minister conveyed his respect to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, highlighting the importance of sustained dialogue and cooperation between the two nations.

President Dr. Pezeshkian, in turn, expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s instrumental role in facilitating the temporary ceasefire, acknowledging the country’s diplomatic efforts and extending his best wishes to the people of Pakistan. He also confirmed Iran’s participation in the upcoming talks in Islamabad.

Both leaders concluded the call by emphasizing the significance of maintaining continuous communication to support the ongoing peace and diplomatic initiatives.
