Lung cancer often develops silently, making early detection challenging.

Lung cancer often develops silently, making early detection challenging. Recognizing its early warning signs can significantly improve outcomes. Here are five common indicators that should not be ignored:

    1. Persistent Cough

A cough that lasts for weeks or months, or changes in a chronic cough, can be an early sign of lung cancer. If a cough worsens over time or produces blood, it requires immediate medical attention.

    2. Shortness of Breath

Unexplained breathlessness during routine activities or minor exertion may indicate changes in the lungs. Difficulty breathing can occur when tumors obstruct airways or fluid builds up around the lungs.

    3. Chest Pain

Continuous or worsening chest pain, particularly when breathing deeply, coughing, or laughing, can be a warning sign. The pain may feel dull, aching, or sharp, depending on the tumor’s location.

    4. Unexplained Weight Loss

Sudden weight loss without any changes in diet or activity level may signal lung cancer. This often occurs due to the body using extra energy to fight the disease or due to tumor-related metabolic changes.

    5. Recurrent Infections

Frequent lung infections, such as bronchitis or pneumonia, that keep returning or do not respond to treatment, can indicate underlying lung problems, including cancer.
