KitKat became F1’s official chocolate bar last year, during F1’s 75th anniversary and KitKat’s 90th anniversary.
In a bizarre twist for Formula 1 fans and chocolate lovers alike, thieves hijacked a lorry loaded with over 400,000 Formula 1-themed KitKat bars while it traveled between Italy and Poland, according to reports from The Athletic.
The stolen haul features special KitKat bars shaped like F1 cars, launched as part of Nestlé’s KitKat becoming the official chocolate partner of Formula 1 ahead of the 2025 season. The partnership went global in 2026, making these limited-edition treats widely available to the public.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident. The bars can be traced using unique batch codes, which may help authorities recover the shipment.
KitKat’s spokesperson responded with a light-hearted statement acknowledging the “break” in security while addressing the growing issue for businesses.
In a Sunday statement on X, the company added that “there are no concerns for consumer safety and supply is not affected.”

The deal was first announced in late 2024 by F1’s chief commercial officer Emily Prazer, who praised KitKat as a “universally recognised and fun brand” set to bring exciting fan experiences both at tracks and beyond.
