Islamabad: Amid mounting geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, particularly the deepening confrontation between Iran and the United States, Islamabad has assumed center stage in global diplomacy hosting a pivotal four-nation dialogue of considerable strategic significance.

Convened at the invitation of Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, the high-level meeting brings together the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Turkey for critical deliberations aimed at navigating the rapidly deteriorating regional landscape and advancing prospects for de-escalation through coordinated diplomatic engagement. The session will be chaired by Ishaq Dar.

The federal capital has, for the moment, transformed into a focal point of intense diplomatic activity. Egypt’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Badr Abdelatty, has already arrived in Islamabad while his counterparts from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are expected to join shortly, underscoring the urgency and gravity of the consultations.

Diplomatic sources indicate that the agenda will be dominated by the evolving Iran-related crisis, with particular emphasis on forging a cohesive and strategic response among the participating states.

The dialogue is also expected to explore viable diplomatic pathways to mitigate rising tensions and avert further escalation.

Alongside the multilateral engagement, an extensive series of bilateral consultations has been scheduled. Pakistan will hold separate high-level talks with Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt, while the visiting foreign ministers are also expected to engage in one-on-one discussions to reinforce diplomatic alignment and mutual understanding.

In a gesture of diplomatic courtesy, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar will host a formal luncheon in honour of the visiting dignitaries.

Furthermore, the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Egypt are scheduled to call on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, reflecting the broader scope of engagement at the highest levels of leadership.

Earlier, upon his arrival at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdelatty was accorded a warm reception by Ishaq Dar. The two leaders held preliminary discussions encompassing regional developments, bilateral relations, and a range of issues of mutual strategic interest.

This significant diplomatic initiative unfolds at a moment of acute international concern, as tensions between Iran and the United States approach a critical inflection point.

In this context, Pakistan’s prior expression of willingness to facilitate dialogue between the two adversaries has been widely regarded as a constructive and stabilising overture within the international community.
