Pakistan Women’s under-19 cricket team fell 13 runs short in a rain-hit contest against Ireland Women’s U19 in their final group match in the ongoing ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup at the Johor Cricket Academy Oval in Malaysia on Wednesday.

Green Shirts finished fourth in the Group B points table and will now be facing Samoa for the fourth place match on Friday (January 24) at the same venue in Malaysia.

The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30am PKT with the toss taking place prior.

From Group B, Ireland along with England and the United States have qualified for the Super Six stage of the event.

Ireland had opted to bat first after winning the toss and posted a score of 69-5 in the allotted nine overs with Alice Walsh being the top scorer with a 19-ball 31 and receiving the player of the match award.

Walsh opened the innings and hit five fours before falling against Pakistan’s leg-spinner Quartulain in the seventh over. Her opening partner scored 11 off 10 with two fours while Annabel Squires and Abbi Harrison added 13 off 13 and 10 from 10 balls to the scorecard respectively.

Pakistan’s Memoona Khalid took two wickets in her only over. Their revised target as per the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method was 73 in nine overs.

In reply of the target, the side led to a promising start of 24 without losing a wicket in 2.1 overs before wickets started to fall regularly as they finished the nine overs with a score of 59-7.

Captain Komal Khan turned out to be the top-scorer as she scored a 12 from the same number of balls as the side fell 13 runs short of the target.

Irish bowler Ellie McGee was the highest wicket taker with two scalps in two overs as she conceded 13 runs,
