This can cause discomfort, redness, irritation, and a gritty feeling in the eyes.

Dry eye syndrome is a common condition that occurs when the eyes do not produce enough tears or when tears evaporate too quickly. This can cause discomfort, redness, irritation, and a gritty feeling in the eyes. It often affects people who spend long hours using digital screens, work in dry environments, or wear contact lenses.

Although dry eye syndrome can be bothersome, there are several simple lifestyle changes and home remedies that can help relieve the symptoms and improve eye comfort.

    1. Use Artificial Tears Regularly

One of the simplest ways to manage dry eye syndrome is by using artificial tears or lubricating eye drops. These drops help keep the eyes moist and reduce irritation, redness, and the feeling of dryness. They are available over the counter and can be used several times a day to provide relief, especially for people who spend long hours using digital screens.

    2. Take Breaks from Screens

Spending too much time looking at phones, computers, or tablets can worsen dry eye symptoms because people tend to blink less while focusing on screens. Following the 20-20-20 rule can help reduce eye strain and dryness. This means every 20 minutes, you should look at something 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds. Taking regular breaks encourages blinking and allows the eyes to stay properly lubricated.

    3. Use a Humidifier and Stay Hydrated

Dry air can make dry eye symptoms worse, especially in air-conditioned or heated rooms. Using a humidifier helps add moisture to the air, which can prevent the eyes from becoming too dry. In addition, drinking enough water throughout the day helps maintain overall body hydration, which also supports healthy tear production.
