Actor Jennifer Runyon, best known for her roles in the 1984 film Ghostbusters and the 1980s sitcom Charles in Charge, has died at the age of 65.

The news of her passing was first reported by TMZ after Runyon’s family shared a message on her Facebook page on Sunday announcing that she died on Friday night following what they described as a “long and arduous journey.”

“This past Friday night our beloved Jennifer passed away,” the family wrote. “It was a long and difficult journey that ended with her surrounded by her family.”

They added that Runyon would be remembered for her love of life and dedication to family and friends. “She will always be remembered for her love of life and her devotion to her family and friends. We know from above she’s looking down on all of us with her beautiful smile. Rest in peace our Jenn.”

The family did not disclose the cause of death. However, fellow actor Erin Murphy, known for her role in the television series Bewitched, paid tribute on social media and suggested Runyon had been battling cancer.

“So sad to share that my friend Jennifer Runyon Corman has passed away after a brief battle with cancer,” Murphy wrote. “Some people you just know you’ll be friends with before you even meet. She was a special lady.”

Runyon appeared in the 1984 hit film Ghostbusters, starring alongside Bill Murray, and later gained wider recognition for playing Gwendolyn Pierce on the popular sitcom Charles in Charge. In 1988, she portrayed Cindy Brady in the television movie A Very Brady Christmas.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Runyon built a steady career in television and film, appearing in series such as Another World, Quantum Leap, and Murder, She Wrote. In later years, she remained active with fans and continued to engage with the communities built around her earlier projects.

Jennifer Runyon is remembered by friends, family, and fans for her warmth, talent, and lasting contributions to television and film.
