Former President Bill Clinton spoke out regarding a viral photo circulating from the Epstein files, which shows him in a hot tub with an unidentified individual.
Clinton explained that he was unaware the photo was taken and believed it was captured at a hotel in Brunei during the final leg of an Asian tour linked to his AIDS initiative.
He recalled meeting the Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei, Hassanal Bolkiah, during his time in the Oval Office, and noted that Bolkiah had offered assistance for his health campaign, suggesting he stay at a particular hotel and use its pool facilities.
“I don’t think I ever knew the photo was taken,” Clinton stated. He described the visit, saying, “So I did,” before going to bed exhausted after a day of meetings.
The former president acknowledged another photo from the Justice Department’s recent release, which showed him swimming in a pool with Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Clinton confirmed he swam briefly with Epstein and Maxwell but did not recognize who else was in the water, aside from noting that a Secret Service agent was present.
The 79-year-old former president clarified the circumstances surrounding the image during a four-and-a-half-hour session held in Chappaqua, N.Y., on Friday, February 27.
Addressing concerns about the viral photo, Clinton emphasized that the woman in the image was not younger than 18 and denied any sexual relations with her. He maintained that he had no knowledge of any inappropriate conduct related to the images.
The deposition sheds light on the context surrounding the controversial images, with Clinton asserting his innocence and clarifying the circumstances of his interactions with Epstein associates.
