The 30th death anniversary of renowned novelist and journalist Naseem Hijazi observed with reverence and respect today, March 2.

Naseem Hijazi was not only a prominent writer and journalist but also a passionate advocate for the integration of Balochistan with Pakistan through his journalistic efforts. Many Baloch leaders acknowledge that without his involvement, Balochistan’s integration with Pakistan might have been nearly impossible.

Hijazi is regarded among the most distinguished Urdu novelists who gave new dimensions to historical fiction. He authored 27 novels, including celebrated works such as Dastan-e-Mujahid, Khaak aur Khoon, Shaheen, Aakhri Chattan, and Yusuf bin Tashfin.

These novels played a vital role in educating the younger generation about Islamic history and culture. Literary experts note that Hijazi’s works are not only engaging and impactful but also instill a sense of freedom, self-respect, and national identity in readers. His storytelling presents historical events in such a vivid manner that readers feel as if they are part of that era.

In the field of journalism, Naseem Hijazi was equally active, using his writings to boldly express opinions on national and political issues. He began his career with Roznama Zamana in Karachi and contributed to several newspapers, awakening public awareness through his articles.

In addition to Roznama Tameer and Roznama Tanzeem, he launched his own newspaper, Roznama Kohistan, which brought a revolutionary impact to Urdu journalism. His work promoted seriousness and purposefulness in the journalistic landscape.

Experts highlight that Naseem Hijazi was not only a literary figure but also an active participant in the Pakistan Movement. Through both journalism and practical efforts, he contributed significantly to advancing the objectives of Pakistan. His services were particularly crucial in the struggle for Balochistan’s integration with Pakistan, where he played a key role in shaping public opinion and raising awareness in favor of the country.

Literary and political circles credit Hijazi with strengthening the sense of attachment to Pakistan in Balochistan, which later contributed to national unity and cohesion.

It is undeniable that the younger generation can gain valuable insights into national history by studying his thoughts and efforts. Naseem Hijazi’s legacy continues to inspire readers and patriots alike, reminding them of the power of the pen and dedication to one’s country.
