KARACHI:  Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar held an important meeting with the Consul General of the People’s Republic of China in Karachi, Yang Yundong, to discuss bilateral relations, mutual cooperation, and particularly the security situation concerning Chinese nationals in the province.

During the meeting, both sides conducted a comprehensive review of security arrangements for Chinese citizens residing in Sindh, including experts, engineers, and personnel associated with various development projects.

The Home Minister emphasized that the protection of Chinese nationals remains the top priority of the Government of Sindh, and any negligence in this regard will not be tolerated.

He stated that security measures for Chinese engineers and workers associated with projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) as well as non-CPEC initiatives are being further strengthened through coordinated and effective strategies.

Both sides agreed to modernize and enhance security protocols for Chinese installations, residential compounds, and work sites in line with evolving security requirements.

The Home Minister stressed the importance of strengthening coordination and intelligence-sharing mechanisms between law enforcement agencies and the Chinese Consulate to ensure timely prevention of any potential threats. He reiterated that the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China is founded on mutual trust, respect, and longstanding cooperation, and that the Sindh government is committed to further reinforcing these historic ties.

He also reaffirmed that a strict zero-tolerance policy is being implemented for the protection of Chinese nationals, with all relevant institutions working in close coordination under a comprehensive security framework.

Consul General Yang Yundong appreciated the measures taken by the Government of Sindh to safeguard Chinese citizens and projects.

He expressed gratitude for the continued support and cooperation extended by the provincial authorities and voiced his desire to further strengthen mutual trust and collaboration.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Inspector General of Sindh Police, DIG Special Protection Unit (SPU), DIG East, and the Coordinator to the Home Minister. Matters of mutual interest were also discussed during the session.
