QUETTA: At least six individuals lost their lives when unidentified assailants opened fire on a residence in the Buleda area of Turbat, Balochistan, police confirmed on Wednesday.
Among the victims was a woman, while two others sustained injuries in the attack. Authorities shifted the deceased and the wounded to Turbat Hospital to complete medico-legal procedures.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, which, along with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, remains one of the regions most impacted by militant violence.
Last month, Balochistan experienced a wave of coordinated terrorist assaults allegedly carried out by the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA). The attacks targeted several districts, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni.
These attacks resulted in the deaths of 36 civilians among them women and children, as well as 22 members of security and law enforcement agencies.
In response, security forces conducted multiple operations and reportedly neutralized 216 militants during engagements and clearance missions under what the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) described as “Operation Raddul Fitna 1”.
According to the military’s media wing, intelligence-based operations were launched in Panjgur and areas near Harnai district after credible reports indicated the presence of militants posing imminent threats to civilians. During these operations, 41 militants allegedly linked to Indian proxy networks were killed.
Officials further stated that 58,778 intelligence-based operations were carried out in Balochistan in 2025 the highest number recorded in any province.
ISPR Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry noted that the province witnessed 1,557 terrorism-related incidents over the past year.
