The XXV Winter Olympic Games in Italy concluded with a spectacular closing ceremony held at Verona’s historic arena on February 22, 2026. The event celebrated the achievements of athletes from around the world and marked the transition to the next Winter Games in the French Alps.

Team USA was proudly represented by flag-bearers Hilary Knight, the women’s hockey captain and gold medalist, and Evan Bates, the ice dance silver medalist. The United States finished the Games with an impressive total of 33 medals, including 12 gold, 12 silver, and 9 bronze, securing second place in the medal tally behind Norway, which topped the standings with 41 medals.

The ceremony featured vibrant musical performances, including a dynamic segment by Major Lazer, led by Diplo, with artists MØ, Nyla, and Alfa, adding to the festive atmosphere.

IOC President Kirsty Coventry officially closed the Milano Cortina Games and handed over the Olympic flag to representatives from the French Alps, who will host the 2030 Winter Olympics. The event was a memorable celebration of athletic excellence, cultural diversity, and international unity.
