Reality TV star and entrepreneur Kim Kardashian first discovered psoriasis on her legs in 2011 — a diagnosis that significantly impacted her life from that moment on.

Now 45, Kim has consistently spoken about her struggle with the chronic skin condition, both on social media and on her family’s hit reality series, Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Over the years, she has documented the emotional and physical challenges of managing flare-ups.

The journey, she admits, has been exhausting and ongoing. After experimenting with numerous treatments and remedies, Kim eventually found a method that brought noticeable improvement.

In a 2017 interview with PEOPLE magazine, she revealed that light therapy made a significant difference.

“I have been using this light — and I don’t wanna speak too soon because [the psoriasis] is almost gone — but I’ve been using this light [therapy] and my psoriasis is like 60 percent gone,” she shared at the time.

“That’s wild because it hasn’t been gone in years.”

Her go-to treatment was the Baby Quasar at-home LED light therapy system — a device costing nearly $600 — which she first mentioned in a 2015 interview with Into the Gloss.

By 2016, Kardashian said she had reached a point of acceptance. Writing on her app, the SKIMS founder explained that she had learned to live with the visible patches on her skin.

“I have that one patch on my right leg that is the most visible,” she wrote. “I don’t even really try to cover it that much anymore. Sometimes I just feel like it’s my big flaw and everyone knows about it, so why cover it? After this many years, I’ve really learned to live with it.”

Through openness and self-acceptance, Kim Kardashian has continued to normalize conversations around psoriasis, inspiring others facing similar struggles.
