Washington / New Delhi: In a controversial move, India has reportedly rejected visas for four cricketers representing the United States in the upcoming T20 World Cup, citing their Pakistani background as the reason.

US fast bowler Ali Khan announced the visa denial on social media, tagging fellow cricketer Shayan Jahangir. Along with them, Ehsan Adil and Mohammed Mohsin were also denied entry to India.

The T20 World Cup is set to begin on February 7 in India, with the U.S. team placed in a group alongside Pakistan, India, Namibia, and the Netherlands.

The United States will play its opening match against India on February 7.

This development has sparked criticism and discussions about politics intersecting with sports, particularly in a high-profile global tournament.
