    Former French footballer, coach, and renowned media commentator Roland Courbis passed away at the age of 72.

    According to international news agencies, Courbis’ employer confirmed his death on Monday, though further details regarding the cause of death were not disclosed.

    Born in Marseille, Courbis dedicated his life to football and was considered one of the most prominent voices in French sports media.

    As a defender, he represented several clubs, including Olympique Marseille, AC Ajaccio, Olympique Lyonnais, and AS Monaco.

    After retiring from professional play, Courbis moved into coaching, working with major clubs such as Bordeaux, Montpellier, Rennes, Ajaccio, and Marseille. His most notable achievement as a coach was leading Marseille to the UEFA Cup final in 1999.

    As a media commentator, Roland Courbis was recognized for his fearless analysis, distinctive style, and close engagement with fans. His passing is a significant loss to the French football community and sports media.
