An unexpected development has emerged amid Venezuela’s ongoing political and military crisis, as Starlink the satellite internet company owned by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has announced it will provide free internet service in the country.

According to international media reports, Elon Musk expressed solidarity with the people of Venezuela and decided to offer free broadband services for a limited period. Starlink said the service will remain available in Venezuela until February 3.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, Starlink said it will remain in continuous contact with Venezuela, a country that has long faced online censorship and digital restrictions.

The company recalled that during the government of President Nicolás Maduro, several major social media platforms including Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram were blocked at different times.

Media reports further stated that following recent military operations, internet services have been completely suspended in large parts of the capital, Caracas, leaving residents cut off from the outside world.
