Islamabad: Consumers may receive significant relief at petrol pumps from January 1, 2026, as authorities are considering a substantial reduction in fuel prices following a sharp decline in international crude oil rates.

According to official sources, a proposal has been prepared to cut the prices of petroleum products for the next 15 days. Under the plan, petrol prices are expected to decrease by up to Rs 10.60 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may be reduced by Rs 8.59 per litre.

The proposal also suggests a reduction of Rs 8.92 per litre in kerosene oil, while the price of light diesel oil (LDO) could fall by Rs 6.62 per litre.

If approved, the price of petrol would decline from the current Rs 263.45 per litre to around Rs 252.85, while high-speed diesel would drop from Rs 265.65 to Rs 257.06 per litre. Kerosene oil is expected to come down from Rs 180.54 to Rs 171.62 per litre.

Final approval is expected to be given after consultations with relevant authorities. If implemented, the reduction would provide much-needed relief to consumers amid ongoing economic pressures.
