Pakistan suffered a defeat in their opening group match of the Pro League Hockey Tournament, going down 5-2 against the Netherlands.

The Pakistan hockey team made a strong start, with Hannan Shahid scoring the opening goal through a brilliant drive from the left flank to give his side an early lead.

In the second quarter, Sufyan Khan converted a penalty corner to double Pakistan’s advantage.

Despite Pakistan’s aggressive beginning, the Netherlands gradually found their rhythm and took control of the match.

They struck back strongly, scoring five goals and maintaining dominance, especially in the final 15 minutes, leaving Pakistan with no real chance of a comeback.

Netherlands’ Teun Beins, who was named Player of the Last Quarter, said it took his team some time to settle into the game. “We didn’t know what to expect from Pakistan, but we read the match well and improved as the game progressed, which helped us secure the three points,” he stated.

Pakistan will now face Argentina in their next Pro League match on December 12 as they look to bounce back from the opening defeat.
