The Boys returned to the spotlight at CCXP in São Paulo on Saturday, where fans got their first look at the upcoming final season.
The new trailer set the tone immediately: Billy Butcher and his team are now navigating an America fully under Homelander’s control — a dark new reality after the events of the season four finale.
Even more unsettling for the media in that universe, Ashley Barrett has taken the podium as Homelander’s White House press secretary.
In the footage, Karl Urban’s Butcher delivers a pointed rallying cry to his worn-down crew: “You wouldn’t be the first throwing your life away in a war, but you would be the first saving the world doing it.”
Prime Video also confirmed a revised release schedule. The final season begins April 8, 2026, with the first two episodes dropping together and the series concluding on May 20, 2026.
Over the years, The Boys has evolved into one of Prime’s defining originals, spawning the successful spinoff Gen V and consistently sparking cultural conversations. Its sharp political satire has repeatedly collided with real-world events, sometimes unintentionally.
Creator Erik Kripke has often spoken about how the political climate shaped the show, including the surprise rise of Donald Trump during the series’ development.
Kripke once recalled, “We just wanted to do a very realistic version of a superhero show, one where superheroes are celebrities behaving badly… When he got elected, we had a metaphor that said more about the current world… Suddenly, we were telling a story about the intersection of celebrity and authoritarianism and how social media and entertainment are used to sell fascism.”
Kripke appeared onstage at CCXP alongside cast members Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone and Colby Minifie.
