ISLAMABAD: The District and Sessions Court Islamabad has declared Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shehzad Akbar a proclaimed offender.

The court issued a written order and directed the issuance of arrest warrants against him. The ruling noted that despite multiple summons, Shehzad Akbar failed to appear in court. The case challan has already been submitted to the court.

Shehzad Akbar faces charges based on controversial statements he allegedly made on social media. The National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCCIA) had filed a case against him in July 2025.

After the end of the PTI government, Shehzad Akbar relocated to the United Kingdom, where he also holds citizenship. Earlier, he was reportedly involved in an acid attack incident in London.

The Government of Pakistan has requested the extradition of Shehzad Akbar and Adil Raja from the UK.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently stated in a press conference that those spreading propaganda against the state from abroad will soon be brought back and held accountable for their statements.
