MANAMA: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has invited Bahraini investors to explore investment opportunities in Pakistan, assuring them of all possible facilitation.
Addressing a ceremony in Manama, the capital of Bahrain, the prime minister said that Pakistan and Bahrain are brotherly nations with a long-standing strategic partnership.
He added that the purpose of his visit was to create new economic opportunities, stressing the need for enhanced cooperation in agriculture, IT, artificial intelligence, fintech and other key sectors.
The prime minister said Pakistanis living in Bahrain had proven that identity is not confined by borders and that their contributions are recognised globally.
He noted that Pakistanis in Bahrain remitted $484 million during the last fiscal year. “I am deeply grateful to Bahrain’s leadership for their affection and support for the Pakistani community,” he said, urging overseas Pakistanis to continue acting as “the best ambassadors” for both countries.
Shehbaz Sharif said Bahrain was a shining example of financial growth, people-centered development and a modern economy. He added that Pakistan wished to learn from Bahrain’s development journey and was eager to strengthen cooperation.
“Pakistan has a skilled workforce, abundant resources, an emerging market and a strategic location, while Bahrain has financial expertise and global exposure. Together, Pakistan and Bahrain can achieve remarkable success,” he said.
The prime minister further stated that Pakistan was entering a new era of economic reforms led by the private sector. He invited Bahraini investors to visit Pakistan and partner in new ventures. “We are ready to open new, long-term and meaningful economic avenues with the Bahraini business community. Pakistan will provide every possible facilitation for investment, joint ventures and business collaboration,” he assured.
Highlighting Pakistan’s youth potential, Shehbaz Sharif said that 60% of the population is between 15 and 30 years of age, calling it both a challenge and a great opportunity.
He said the government was equipping young people with IT, AI, technical and modern skills to unlock new prospects in collaboration with Bahraini enterprises.
He further noted that the Pakistan–GCC Free Trade Agreement was in its final stages, which he said would elevate bilateral relations to new heights.
