The Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) announced on Monday that it will be on winter break from December 22, 2025, to January 4, 2026. During this time, the court itself will stay closed, but hearings will start again on January 5, 2026.
Even though the court is on vacation, its offices will still be open, and any urgent cases or hearings that were already scheduled will continue as planned.
The FCC was created under the 27th Constitutional Amendment to strengthen Pakistan’s judicial system and ensure people’s constitutional rights are protected. Its main role is to interpret the Constitution and resolve legal disputes related to constitutional matters.
Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan is the Chief Justice of the FCC. The other judges include Justice Hasan Azhar Rizvi, Justice Amir Farooq, Justice Ali Baqar Najafi, Justice Karim Khan Agha, Justice Rozi Khan Brech, and Justice Arshad Hussain Shah.
On the court’s official website, Chief Justice Amin-ud-Din Khan called the creation of the FCC an important step in Pakistan’s constitutional development. He said the court is committed to interpreting the Constitution with independence, honesty, and fairness, protecting fundamental rights, and ensuring stability and justice among state institutions.
