The Punjab government has given a new update about the balloting for its free electric taxi scheme 2025. The project, which aims to promote eco-friendly transport, has attracted a lot of interest, with over 28,000 people applying for electric taxis.

The Transport Department says that the applications are currently being checked, and all the data has been sent to the Bank of Punjab for the next steps. Once the balloting is done, the people who get selected will be contacted to make their down payment.

The government plans to hold the balloting in the last week of November 2025. Officials said that applicants who complete their down payment will receive their electric taxis within three to four months. They added that the scheme is meant to encourage clean transportation and give citizens access to modern and easy services.

This electric taxi program is part of Punjab’s larger plan to build a sustainable and eco-friendly transport system. Under the scheme, the government will offer financing of up to Rs6.5 million per E-Taxi for five years, along with help for the equity payment.
