Big News! License Mandatory For Call Centers

The federal government has decided to bring all call centers under a proper legal system and make it compulsory for them to get a license. This decision comes after a sharp increase in digital financial fraud across the country.

Sources say that all call centers operating in Pakistan will now need a mandatory license. The goal is to stop frauds carried out by unregistered and unregulated call centers.

The licensing process will be handled and approved by three federal institutions: the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA), the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), and an intelligence agency.

As part of this plan, NCCIA’s “Operation Grey” will now be expanded to include all provinces. This operation focuses on organized digital fraud groups, especially those working through suspicious or unlicensed call centers.

Sources also mentioned that this crackdown is part of a bigger plan to break up fake investment schemes and improve the country’s cybercrime response system.

Recent operations have already affected Ponzi schemes used by digital scammers and helped identify key people involved in these frauds.

Earlier, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) raided a scam call center in Islamabad and arrested five foreign nationals along with over 65 others. The agency also found records of illegal activities from the call center.

Officials said the arrested people included five foreigners and more than 60 Pakistani boys and girls who were running the scam from Islamabad’s G-10 Sector. A spokesperson for the agency said legal action will also be taken against those who helped or protected these individuals.
