David Beckham has broken his silence after his eldest son Brooklyn Beckham failed to acknowledge his dad’s recent milestone.
On the day the soccer icon was awarded knighthood by King Charles, David’s wife Victoria took to Instagram with a tribute for her “knight in shining armor.”
In her caption, Victoria wrote that she “couldn’t be prouder of” David as she lauded his commitment to their family.
“Your dedication to the things that matter most — your country, your work, your passion, and most of all, your family — has never wavered,” she wrote.
“The way you’ve touched so many lives over the years with kindness and humility speaks volumes about the man you are and continues to inspire us everyday. But above all else, I’m so, so proud to call you mine. I love you so much xxxx.”
In response to her sweet caption to a cosy photo of the longtime couple, David raised a toast to his family—including his eldest son, Brooklyn, who has been maintaining his distance from his parents and brothers.
“I love you all,” David wrote with a heart emoji, tagging Victoria and their boys Brooklyn, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20. He also used a hashtag for their daughter, 13-year-old Harper, who does not have an Instagram account.
David’s recent milestone comes amid a rift between the Beckham family, as a source told People Magazine in May that “there are tensions” between Brooklyn, his wife Nicola Peltz, and the wider Beckham clan. The couple was notably absent from David’s 50th birthday bash in May.
It has also been reported that David never spoke of the knighthood honour with his eldest son. Brooklyn reportedly only learned about his dad’s special day via press reports. In turn, Brooklyn held back on paying any tributes.
In fact, Brooklyn posted photos of pretzel pita chip packs on Instagram as his father received his new title. The official investiture ceremony is yet to take place at a later date.
