Dakota Johnson insists ‘Madame Web’ flop wasn’t her fault

Dakota Johnson has finally revealed why Madame Web flopped at the box office.

The Hollywood actress starred in the 2024 Marvel movie alongside Sydney Sweeney, Emma Roberts, Isabela Merced, and Adam Scott.

During an interview with Los Angeles Times, the Materialists actress blamed a lack of creativity for the movie’s poor performance.

“It wasn’t my fault,” she said. “There’s this thing that happens now where a lot of creative decisions are made by committee. Or made by people who don’t have a creative bone in their body. And it’s really hard to make art that way. Or to make something entertaining that way.”

“And I think unfortunately with Madame Web, it started out as something and turned into something else,” the Hollywood actress continued, before adding, “And I was just sort of along for the ride at that point. But that happens. Bigger-budget movies fail all the time.”

Before concluding, Dakota Johnson shared, “There’s no part of me that’s like, ‘Oh, I’ll never do that again’ to anything. I’ve done even tiny movies that didn’t do well. Who cares?”

For those unversed, the movie grossed $ 100.5 million over an $80 million budget, which is more than the production budget but likely falls short of its financial goals.
