It was really weird because she's incredibly artistic, but she's an amazing drawer and so I thought for a while she was going to be a costume designer or she was going to work in the art department.'And now, suddenly overnight, she just wanted to be an actress.

She's got an amazing singing voice and she's played the genie in Aladdin in school.

I mean, she's done all sorts.'She's got a brilliant voice but now she's wanting to do serious acting.'Discussing her teenage daughter's future, the author continued: 'She's got it all lined up, wants to go to drama school, wants to go to London.'She's told me she won't be coming home for dinner and I'm not allowed to go into London and try and hang out with her.

She's very independent right now.

But yeah, she full-blown wants to be an actress.'Asked what advice she has given her, Joanna insisted the trick to acting is 'never giving up', have 'confidence in yourself' and that an 'actor is always full of lies'.The Welsh actress said: 'Just go for it, just be confident in yourself.

Don't try and change the thing which makes you different to everybody else because that's the thing which makes you unique.'Don't try and fit in with anybody else.

If you're in an audition, you use it as your time, it's your time, don't say, "Oh, thank you for seeing me".

No, they desperately want you to get the job.

If you walk in and they're like, "Whoa, we found the person straight away".

That's amazing.'So the ball's in your court and use that time as it's your time to show off your ability and don't be scared to try something new.

As an actor, you're always full of lies.''So you'll say, "Yes, I can ride a horse.

Yes, I can do a boxing match", both things I've done myself, then you find yourself going, I need to get lessons.'Have confidence in yourself.

I never give up because it's really, really difficult, but just keep going,' she added.Elsewhere Joanna said she 'will always get that mum guilt' as she attempts to balance her career with raising her four children with actor husband James.
