The KSE-100 closed up 1,021 points.

Market breadth was constructive, with 72 shares advancing and 27 declining.Pakistan Petroleum, United Bank and Mari Energies contributed the most to the rebound, rising 3.43%, 0.72% and 1.53%, respectively.

National Bank of Pakistan, Ghandhara Industries and Fauji Fertiliser were the main index drags as GHNI fell 4.47% and NBP 1.28%.The bounce did not reverse the broader downtrend.

The benchmark was still down 0.86% week-to-date, 4.48% month-to-date and 2.88% for calendar year 2026.

All-market capitalisation stood at Rs18,847 billion, or about $68 billion, as per AHL.Regular-session volume reached 386.4 million shares, valuing at Rs20.1 billion ($72.5 million).

PPL led the traded value at $6 million, followed by NBP and Pakistan Refinery.A Federal Constitutional Court judgment on Wednesday dismissed a bank's appeal and entitled pensioners to government pension increases, adding a stock-specific overlay in the banking space.

Technically, the index held last Friday's low of 166,100.AHL still sees a downside bias, with international oil expected to stabilise near $100 a barrel.

Top gainers included PGLC, IBFL, KTML, PPL and CPHL; GHNI, MEHT, SSOM, NBP and PSEL led the losers.Topline Securities, in its market review, stated that the KSE-100 index rebounded, gaining 1,021 points (+0.67%), partially recovering from the previous session's sharp decline.

The benchmark traded within a range of 168,223-169,577, reflecting elevated volatility despite the positive close.The recovery was supported by selective buying across key index-heavy stocks following the recent correction.

However, market sentiment remained cautious amid ongoing focus on global oil prices, geopolitical developments, domestic macroeconomic indicators and institutional flows.UBL, PPL, MARI, BAFL and HBL were the major contributors, collectively adding approximately 493 points to the index.

On the other hand, NBP, GHNI and FFC emerged as the leading drags, collectively shaving around 88 points off the KSE-100, Topline said.Overall trading volumes were recorded at 386.37 million shares compared with the previous session's tally of 356.14 million.

The value of shares traded during the day was Rs20.09 billion.In the ready market, shares of 500 companies were traded.

Of these, 296 stocks closed higher, 152 fell and 52 remained unchanged.Media Times was the volume leader with trading in 42.16 million shares, losing Rs0.05 to close at Rs7.60.
