Blake Lively has finally opened up about her “highest highs and lowest lows” of the past year for the first time since the Justin Baldoni lawsuit.
The 37-year-old Hollywood actress appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Thursday, May 1, to promote her new sequel, Another Simple Favor.
Notably, it was her first TV interview after she sued her It Ends with Us director and co-star, Baldoni, for alleged sexual harassment and a retaliatory smear campaign.
During her appearance, Lively jokingly said she was “thrilled” to know that the host Meyers has not been doing Weekend Update, to which he replied by admitting that he was “not as totally informed” about her legal battle as others.
The Age of Adaline alum noted that she could not talk much about the lawsuit; however, she did reflect on her “intense year” and acknowledged that it’s “been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life.”
Expanding on this, she stated, “And I see so many woman around, afraid to speak — especially right now — afraid to share their experiences. And fear is by design. It’s what keeps us silent. But I also acknowledge that many people don’t have the opportunity to speak. So, I do feel fortunate that I’ve been able to.”
Lively went on to articulate by saying, “It’s the women who have had the ability to use their voice that’s kept me strong and helped me in my belief and my fight for the world to be safer for women and girls.”
The Gossip Girl star, who is the mother of four, mentioned that her kids played a pivotal role in keeping her grounded.
“It’s no surprise I’ve had a pretty intense year, and they’re just my lifeline. No matter what day I’m having, I have to be Disneyland for them,” Lively said.
