Google Wallet launched in Pakistan: details here!
Google has officially launched its mobile payment service, Google Wallet, in Pakistan, bringing a new level of convenience to digital transactions.
The service not only enables online payments but also allows users to make in-app and contactless payments in person via their mobile devices. This move is set to enhance the digital payments landscape in Pakistan, offering a safer, easier, and more efficient way to make transactions.
How to use Google Wallet in Pakistan
Setting up Google Wallet in Pakistan is quick and easy. Simply download the Google Wallet app from the Google Play Store. If you already have a compatible credit or debit card linked to your Google account, it will automatically appear in the app. Just follow the on-screen instructions to enable contactless payments.
If no card is saved, you can manually add one by selecting “Add a card” at the top of the app. After agreeing to the issuer’s terms and completing the verification process, your card will be tokenized and ready for use in Google Wallet.
Supported banks and cards in Google Wallet
Google Wallet in Pakistan supports a variety of bank cards, including debit and credit cards from top financial institutions. These cards can be used for both in-person and online payments wherever Google Pay is accepted.
Currently, the following banks are supported:
Bank AlFalah (Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards)
Bank of Punjab (Mastercard credit cards)
Faysal Bank Noor (Mastercard debit cards)
HBL (Visa and Mastercard debit and credit cards)
Jazzcash (Mastercard debit cards)
Meezan Bank (Visa and Mastercard debit cards)
UBL (Visa and Mastercard debit cards)
In the near future, more banks will be integrated into Google Wallet, including:
Allied Bank (Visa debit cards)
Easypaisa Digital Bank (Visa debit cards)
JS Bank (Visa credit cards and Mastercard debit cards)
Zindigi (Visa debit and credit cards, and Mastercard debit cards)
Additional Features and Merchant Integration
Beyond bank cards, Google Wallet also supports digital items like loyalty cards and boarding passes, making it an all-in-one solution for managing your payments and travel documents.
Soon, users in Pakistan will be able to shop online with Google Pay at major retailers like Onic, Gul Ahmed, Sana Safinaz, J., and KE, thanks to PayFast’s integration. Additionally, travelers will have the option to add boarding passes from airlines such as Batik Air and Thai Airways to Google Wallet, allowing for a more seamless airport experience with real-time updates on departure times and gate changes.
Google Wallet’s integration with Safepay’s platform will also enable more businesses across Pakistan to accept secure contactless payments, further expanding the digital payment landscape. With these advancements, Google Wallet is set to revolutionize the way financial transactions are carried out in the country.
