Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has expressed her happiness and pride after her youngest daughter Mahnoor Safdar completed her graduation from SOAS University of London in Anthropology, saying that there could hardly be a greater moment of happiness for parents than seeing their children complete their education.
Maryam Nawaz attended Mahnoor Safdar’s graduation ceremony in London during her brief private visit to the British capital.
The graduation took place as part of SOAS University of London’s September 2026 graduation ceremonies in central London.
Speaking to Geo News following her daughter’s graduation, Maryam said she was extremely happy that her youngest daughter had now completed her university education.
“I am very happy about my daughter’s graduation. I thank God that my youngest daughter has also completed her graduation,” said CM Maryam.
She said: “There can be no prouder moment for parents than seeing their children graduate and complete their education. I wish that every parent gets to experience this happiness and that every child gets the opportunity to receive a good education.”
The Punjab chief minister also said that she was particularly happy because her youngest daughter had now graduated and all three of her children had completed their higher education.
“My three children have completed their higher education,” she said while describing the graduation as a moment of happiness for herself and her family.
Maryam said that for parents, seeing their children receive a good education and successfully complete their studies was among the greatest sources of happiness and pride.
Mahnoor Safdar, the youngest of Maryam and Muhammad Safdar’s three children, studied at SOAS University of London between 2023 and 2026.
Maryam travelled to London specifically to attend her daughter’s graduation and kept the visit private, with no formal political engagements announced during the short stay. Earlier, she met PML-N UK leaders Ahsan Dar and Khurram Butt for a luncheon meeting.
Responding to questions about reports of differences within the PML-N and the ongoing debate over the creation of new provinces and administrative units, Maryam rejected suggestions that her party was divided.
“Who said the party is divided?” she said, adding that many people had previously tried to divide the PML-N but the party remained standing and united.
“Many came who tried to divide the PML-N, and many went away. The PML-N is still standing where it was,” she said.
The chief minister said the PML-N remained united and dismissed speculation about serious internal divisions within the ruling party.
On governance, Maryam Nawaz said other provinces should also work in the same manner as Punjab and argued that visible results required sustained effort and hard work.
She said her government was working day and night for development and public welfare in Punjab and that governments had to work hard if they wanted their performance to be visible to the public.
