Pakistani batter Gull Feroza has been fined 10% of her match fee after breaching the ICC Code of Conduct during an ACC Women’s Asia Cup fixture against Hong Kong in Dubai on Monday.

According to the cricketing body, the top-order batter was found to have breached Article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to showing dissent at an umpire.

The incident occurred in the fifth over of Pakistan’s innings when Gull, after being given out leg-before wicket, expressed her disagreement with the on-field umpire’s decision by gesturing towards her bat to suggest that she had edged the ball, according to the ICC.

Gull has also been handed one demerit point as part of the disciplinary action. It marks her second offence in 24 months, bringing her tally to two demerit points during the period.

The Pakistan batter acknowledged the breach and agreed to the penalty recommended by Supriya Rani Das, a member of the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees. As Gull accepted the proposed sanction, there was no need for a formal disciplinary hearing.

The charge was brought by on-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana, along with third umpire Shivani Mishra and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir.

Gull was fined two days after the ICC penalised Pakistan captain Fatima Sana for breaching Level 1 of the code of conduct during the Women’s Asia Cup Group A match against India on Saturday.

Sana was fined 10% of her match fee for breaching Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using language, actions or gestures that disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon dismissal.
